Our teen and young adult courses and programs are specifically designed educational and skill-building opportunities tailored for individuals in their teenage years. These programs aim to equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary for personal and professional development.

This course is an ASHI (American Safety & Health Institute) certified course. The course focus is on supervising, caring for, and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings. The program provides fundamental information in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic caregiving skills, and responding properly to ill or injured children or infants. Registration is open to youths aged 11-15. Held in Program Room #4 at the Y.
*Must attend both days to complete the certification.

Participants will learn lifesaving skills including CPR techniques, AED use, and basic first aid response in emergency situations. This course is a great opportunity for babysitters, coaches, students, and anyone interested in gaining valuable safety skills and certification.

Weight lifting class for teens ages 12+ with limited or no experience with resistance training. This strength and conditioning program is designed to increase performance in any sport and promote general well-being utilizing a combination of Powerlifting and Circuit Training. Emphasis placed on safety, proper lifting technique, and weight-room etiquette. Discussions include progressive overload, benefits of different rep ranges, and maximizing results. Members and non-members welcome to register and attend. Must pre-register for each 5-week session.

This program is designed for the middle and high school athlete looking to improve performance during the off-season. The class will focus on developing strength, speed, agility, and overall athleticism. Athletes will be introduced to strength and conditioning, mobility, proper warm-up and cool-down routines, and drills to improve footwork and reaction time; while building a foundation for injury prevention and long-term athletic development. Sessions will include dynamic warm-ups, strength and power exercises, agility drills, and conditioning. The program emphasizes progressive overload and structured progression. Ideal for multi and single-sport athletes who want to get stronger, faster, and increase overall performance going into their next season.

This program is for anyone age 16 and older. Participants must be able to do the following swimming skills in order to pass the water pre-test: front crawl stroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, front dive, surface dive to bottom at 12 feet and retrieve an object, treading water and underwater swimming. The course consists of ASHI Basic Life Support, ASHI Emergency Oxygen Administration, ASHI First Aid, YMCA Lifeguard e-lessons, and the YMCA Lifeguard course. After successfully completing all these, the participant is qualified for a lifeguard position anywhere in the United States.
Begins with a water pre-test Fall 2026 from 7:00-8:00 pm. (Date: TBA'd)
After successful completion of water pre-test, classes will be held on Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. (Dates TBA'd)

~ AGES: 12-17 years old MUST attend a One-Time Training before use.
~ AGES: 12-17 are eligible to use all Fitness Rooms once trained.
~ AGES: 10-11 NOT permitted in Weight Room/Precor Fitness Room.
~AGES: 10-11 Permitted to use upstairs Functional Fitness Room/Fitness Room WITH a parent.
